Bob Buchanan became the lead pastor
at FBC in June 2004 promising that this church would be his final ministry
destination! Bob has served as an associate pastor, a senior pastor and
even attempted planting a church before coming to FBC. His calling is
to serve the local church as a pastor. His passion is to preach and teach
God’s Word in a way that will deepen people’s joy in God.
Bob began
serving as an associate pastor in an independent charismatic church (1978)
before becoming the senior pastor. He also was an associate professor
in a Christian college teaching theatre arts and public speaking. He
obtained a Master of Arts Degree in Theological Studies from Bethel
Seminary in St. Paul, MN before
moving to Colorado.
Bob and
his wife Leanita (Nita) have two daughters and three grandchildren. To
their delight they all work together in the ministries at FBC. Nita serves
with Women’s Ministries and is a strong advocate for prayer in
the church. Their daughter Shaunna serves with her husband Phill who
is the youth pastor. (They have three children, Grace, Phillip, and Ruth). Their
youngest daughter, Abi, is a college student and also serves in the youth ministries.
Bob’s “side-ministry” is
training Anglican pastors in southern India so that they might
transform their churches into disciplemaking churches.
Bob’s
greatest desire for the people of God is that they love His Word and
strive to become satisfied in the love of God in Christ as the fullest
expression of becoming a fully maturing disciple of Jesus Christ’s.
